Working with
Osram-Sylvania, Ford
introduced the halogen headlights on the 1979 Lincoln Versailles.
Ford promoted the safety advantages of these brighter lights.
The clear coat paint process was first introduced on American cars by the 1977 Lincoln Versailles.
The 1978 Lincoln Versailles leads Ford's 302 to the
fore-front of engine electronics with its EEC I, electronic
engine control system.
